Red is the color for the Base or Root Chakra also known as Muladhara Chakra. This chakra is located at the base of the spine and allow us to be grounded and connect to the universal energies. This chakra is associated with your legs,feet, bones, large intestine,and adrenal glands. Base Chakra is the closest to the ground. It controls your ‘fight or flight’ response.

As a little girl, as I stepped into my teens, I never realized that I carried a divine blessing within me. Naïve and innocent, dressed in floral patterned dresses, I answered every question promptly. While predicting for all who had unblemished faith in me became a way of life, little did I know that like a typical sixteen year old, I could no longer be oblivious to the delicately overpowering yet the beautiful feeling of love.

Your very existence seems to be way beyond the realms of my understanding,
And far far away from reality.
While I try to look for the light, the source of life that I emanated from,
I feel the strong bond that your being shares with my body and soul,
Within which I search for my infinite desire to love
Which ends at the alter of your pure love.
It is this serene love of yours that leads my learned mind to a place where soulful oasis exist.
It is in these oases that I see you and only your reflection,
And Today, my feelings tell me that you are my dawn, you are my twilight, my God and even my prayer !

As I grew up I started realizing and understanding better what I had penned down…..love is a many splendid thing my dear friends. Love is a celebration that goes way beyond a lifetime. For all you warm hearts out there that beat and thrive on love, who have imagined and waited for their soul mates, let me tell you that there is one out there for each one of you. Just as you seek your love so does your soul mate.

Today, as the world celebrates the day of love on Saint Valentines Day, my endeavor would be a soulful prayer for each one of you souls to meet their mate.

While I was travelling from Gurgaon to Jaipur yesterday, the six – hour road journey turned into one of nostalgia, leaving me reminiscing incidents of my childhood. While predicting came naturally to me, something that always complimented it was a humongous list of questions. I call it complimented because the queries that seemed extremely innocent had deep rooted thoughts behind them. As I grew up, I took off on a path of self – study and research to find answers to these troublesome elements in my life.

Here is one such story that will interest you extremely. In 1992, one day while I was in my office, a lady walked in with her better half and two children. When she showed me her horoscope, I was completely awestruck. I was staring at my own horoscope. After a couple of minutes of being completely dumb founded, I quickly looked at the birth details. She was born on 23rd February 1965, at 0400 hours at the Victoria Hospital in Ajmer, Rajasthan. I just could not believe this, this was me. It had to be. There was no mistake. I looked at it more intently to see that while she was tagged into bed number 3 when she was born, I belonged to bed number 5. A quick glance at her life revealed that while she was married when she was barely nineteen and a half, I never tied the knot, she had three sisters while I had 4, she was just a high school pass while I went way beyond college, she was married into an affluent family while I had to strive and work very hard to reach there. All these things triggered off a question in my mind……….two children born on the same day, same time and same year had completely different destinies while the destinies were not poles apart. There were similarities but the differences definitely existed. And this was enough for my thinking faculties to start their daily chore.

I looked and looked and read and thought till I eventually found answers to all that rattled my brains. The first substantial cause for the difference in destinies was the day and time of conception of the child that varies completely. When a child breathes his first in his mother’s womb at the beginning of the fourth month of pregnancy, the astral combinations start shaping the destiny of the child at that very time. While a normal cycle for a child to be born is 280 days, a child may be born in 270 days or 290 days.

This in turn would mean that both the children would have been in the womb of the mother for different number of days. One may have been born after 9 months of pregnancy while the second may have been born pre mature.

The next 25% is contributed by the DNA of the child that also carries the destinies of the parents of the child. For instance, the child may have inherited diabetes from one or both the parents. However, it is quite possible that this may or may not come up in the horoscope of the child.

Last but not the least the environment in which the child is conceived in and born and brought up into also determines the future of the child. This fills up the last 25% slot of the determining factor. The immediate effect can be seen in the thought process of the individual that increases multifold. Little that he knows that soon his creativity knows no bounds, his artistic inclination touches new heights, his reservoir of energy flows incessantly and slowly cleanses his body, mind and soul.

These silent fasts find their roots and origin in the ‘navtratras’ which means ‘shakti aradhana’ or the worship of power. Essentially there are four navratras in a year. Each has its own connotation and importance. In totality they account for 40 days in a year. Two of these are ‘Jaagrit’ or well known to the layman while the other two are ‘Gupt’ or closed and not to commonly known. They also have another meaning to it. During the ‘Gupt mauns’, the learned assimilate all their energies and meditate discretely towards enhancing them to be able to then utilize them for a better and higher cause for the needy. So, this is essentially a time to sow the seeds for greater energies and greater abilities to serve mankind.

The ‘Jaagrit mauns’ its time to reap what has already been sown in the ‘Gupt mauns’. The assimilated energies are now utilized to worship and for the betterment of the human race.

I would go into a maun on all the four navratras in a year, and after years of following that diligently now I do that twice a year.

Here is a little insight into the 4 Navratras that occur in a year

1. Chaitra Shukla Pratipada – Shukla Dashmi: This marks the beginning of the summer season and the new year (According to the Hindu lunar calendar). A ‘Jaagrit’ navratra by nature this Basantic Navratri is the second most popular navratra. Durga iAashaads worshipped in the form of Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and is known as Shree.

2. Aashaad Shukla Pratipada – Shukla Dashmi: This navratri welcomes the ‘Varsha Ritu’ or the Rainy Season bringing a relief to the parched and dry earth that yearns for relief bringing about a sense of relief and joy all around. This is a discrete navratra.

3. Ashwani Shukla Pratipada – Shukla Dashmi: Also known as the Shardiya navratra, this is the most popular navratra which is celebrated all over India in vivid forms with differing connotations. This is the time for ‘maha puja’ when Durga is worshipped as Lakshmi, Saraswati and Kaali. It also stands to rid darkness and welcome the winter season and marks the harvest of the wheat crop.

4. Maagh Shukla Pratipada – Shukla Dashmi. This is the strongest and the most difficult of the navratras and is ‘Gupt’ or discrete in nature. Durga is worshipped as Ma Shaarde or Ma Saraswati, the Goddess of art and enlightenment. This navratra blossoms when the spring blossoms and there is love in the air. It is said that it is during this time that the Gods from the heaven descend to the earth to romance. I guess that is why valentines day is also celebrated around this time.

Having told you about all the navratras, this is almost the end of my maun on day one of this Chaitra navratra. The feeling and sound of silence has been overwhelming. Go on and experience the new high that a maun can make you feel, even if it is for a very short span of time, even an hour or two. You will be amazed with the healing touch of this sound of silence!
